- Open the document in which you want to insert a manual page break, then set the location of insertion point or cursor where you want to insert a manual page break.
- The hard page break immediately starts the next page in a document. The shortcut is as follows: CTRL+ENTER. If you do not prefer to use the shortcut, enter the following: 1. Click on the Insert Menu. Select the type of break desired (if available). Some early versions of Word do not include the different types.
Insert the line break. Hit the key combination Shift + Enter to create a line break. You will now be able to add content in the line right after the break. Notice that the cursor will not situate itself in the blank space where the break is when you click on the space. This is the line break.
I set mine up (using the 'Tools / Customise Keyboard' command in Word 2007) to use 'Shift control return' instead for the page break, which doesn't seem to conflict with anything else and I find easy enough to remember.
